Color photograph taken from above on the Theban path of the Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt, 2008. The sun pierced the clouds to shine down on this complex of tombs that was the principal burial place of the major royal figures of the Egyptian New Kingdom including Tutankhamun. A footpath leading from the Valley of the Kings to Deir el-Bahari gives a splendid overlook of the geographical placement of these complexes. Ancient Thebes with its Necropolis is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Program since 1979.
